Liverpool Cares helps people find connection in times of challenge and change, so we are taking the appropriate steps to protect neighbours and community health.
As we enter a new year, and a new decade, we’re pleased to offer you all an update on our second Winter Wellbeing project, which helps older neighbours across the city of Liverpool stay warm, active and connected through the coldest months of the year. We’re about halfway through the project now, and though December is behind us we all know that the months ahead are often some of the coldest of the year these days!
We’ve had an incredible response to the first month of our Winter Wellbeing project, which helps older neighbours aged 65 and over stay warm, active and better connected across our wonderful city. In this blog our Outreach Coordinator Rachael will tell us more about two of the cracking scousers she’s been fortunate enough to meet through our targeted outreach in the first six weeks of this year’s project.
Development Coordinator Rachael describes how proud she feels to be part of such a wonderful community network of older and younger neighbours, who came together to help raise those all-important funds to help Liverpool Cares grow.
Development Coordinator Rachael Forde recently sat down with one of our older neighbour Linda to learn more about her life and what brought her to Liverpool Cares.
Each month we visit a different business in Liverpool with a group of our older neighbours for a "back to work" social club. We meet their staff and find out what it's like to work in modern-day workspaces. This week's blog focuses on past visits, what our neighbours gain from them and if there's potential for us to come and visit you at work soon!
Last week we launched our second Winter Wellbeing project that will help over 65’s to stay warm, active and connected over the winter months ahead. The project will see us delivering warm items, things like blankets, hats, coats, scarves and even hot water bottles, providing a little extra warmth for older people as we move into these colder months.
Rachael Treacher, our Outreach Coordinator, leads on this project. In this blog, she tells us more about some of the outreach work she’s been doing, and the older Scouse neighbours she’s met along the way.
Rachael Treacher leads our Outreach at Liverpool Cares. Here, she tells us about her work in Kensington Fields Community Centre, the characters she's met along the way, and the funny, uplifting stories she’s constantly uncovering through this ongoing work she's doing in our communities.
Christine is a well-known friendly face at Liverpool Cares' social clubs, whether that be getting stuck in at Craft Club or enjoying a drink with her older neighbours at a Pub Club. Here she describes what being a volunteer for Liverpool Cares means to her, and why she keeps coming back for more.
