Liverpool Cares’ proactive Outreach programme worked with our fabulous local partners across the city to identify and invite older and younger neighbours to be part of their community and share time with another generation.
Every year, we spoke with thousands of people over 65 in Liverpool, welcoming them to Liverpool Cares and our programmes. We worked closely with local partners so they could signpost people into our community and we also directed people to other organisations.
We worked across our patch year-round, going out to meet older neighbours by visiting chemists, supermarkets, GP surgeries, pubs, libraries, betting shops, community centres, faith groups and local estates. Working closely with many community partners who referred neighbours to us, we shared information our community to create connections in our rapidly-changing city.
Our team also reached out to younger neighbours experiencing isolation. We worked with local universities and youth groups, employers, networks, and other communities – as well as online – to inspire people to be part of the Liverpool community.
From 2018 to 2021, we also ran annual Winter Wellbeing projects to identify older neighbours and connect them with younger people living in Liverpool. You can find out more about our Winter Wellbeing project here.
