Alma joined Liverpool Cares in 2019, and is well known to her younger and older neighbours for being a regular face at Social Clubs - having attended over 80 clubs since joining the community! Alma can usually be found getting stuck into clubs like our regular Singalong or our Board Game evenings, and is always cracking a joke or two, making her younger neighbours laugh.
Alma is used to being really active in her community, so during lockdown it was hard for Alma to transition to staying at home a lot more. However, Liverpool Cares’ #Alltogether activities have been keeping Alma busy ever since. Alma completed every single activity - almost 300 of them! - and continues to complete them each month. Not only that, but Alma’s kept all of her completed activities in folders, and has taken to describing it as her Liverpool Cares "homework". Alma is always proud to show off her wonderful creativity, and we love to see it.
Most recently, Alma joined a team of fundraisers and abseiled down the Liverpool Cathedral to raise money for Liverpool Cares - what a legend!
“I found out about Liverpool Cares through a Facebook post, and thought it sounded like an amazing thing to do... I signed up and haven’t looked back since!”
Danny joined Liverpool Cares in 2019, and has attended almost 50 Social Clubs to date — some of which he even ran himself! Danny’s brought his love of sports to the Liverpool Cares community and recently ran our very own sports day for almost 20 older and younger neighbours.
As well as attending Social Clubs, Danny is a part of our Love Your Neighbour programme, having been matched up with older neighbour Billy during lockdown. Danny has also supported Liverpool Cares in raising vital funds, and cycled almost 300 miles across the country to fundraise for his community!
"Volunteering is a fantastic way to meet new people, share stories, share skills and learn – I always come away from a Liverpool Cares activity with a smile on my face!"
