"Liverpool Cares bridges the gap between social activities and a sense of giving back within your community."
If meeting new people and giving something back to your community is on your new year's resolution list, check out this lovely blog from younger neighbour Alana (19) who joined our network in 2022. We hear about her motivations for joining, her highlights so far and how she's got stuck right into our free social clubs.
How did you get involved in Liverpool Cares?
I came across Liverpool Cares during my 12-week RISE programme with Agent Marketing Academy where Rachael gave a presentation about Liverpool Cares. As soon as she mentioned they partner up older people in the community with younger people I was intrigued, the list of activities seemed fun and I wanted to be a part of it.
Were there any other motivations for you to get involved?
Off the back of my previous job as a healthcare assistant, I knew the challenges that came with being part of an older generation especially after Covid-19 and multiple lockdowns.
After leaving that job, I found I still missed some of the characters I used to look after. Liverpool Cares bridges the gap between social activities and a sense of giving back within your community.
How do you find the sign-up process for social clubs?
Hassle-free and easy to book - there's a wide range of activities at flexible times.
What would you say to people who are thinking about signing up?
Just go for it, they don’t bite! You will leave social clubs feeling like you’ve gained a new experience, done something meaningful, as well as contributing positively to people's lives - which you have!
