What can I refer an older neighbour for?
Virtual and Phone-In Social Clubs
Our Social Clubs are free group activities which usually take place face-to-face. At the moment, we’ve moved online and over the phone. Our Social Clubs are hosted via Zoom - a video and phone conferencing platform that’s free to use. For our virtual clubs, all that’s required is a smartphone, tablet or laptop with internet connection. We also host twice weekly Phone-In clubs, which can be joined for free by dialling in from a mobile or landline. At our clubs, older neighbours can hang out with younger locals to enjoy activities like discos, dances, recipe swaps, quizzes, yoga and more.
Tech Support
If the person you’re referring has internet access but isn’t sure how to join Zoom, we’re can provide one-to-one support with how to download and navigate the Zoom app, in order to be able to access our online/phone-in groups.
Friendship over the phone
Our 1-2-1 phone friendship programme, connecting an older neighbour with a younger local for regular conversation.
Postal Activity Packs
Older neighbours can also sign up to receive our free monthly #AloneTogether Activity Pack. These can help keep neighbours busy and creative at home.
Practical Support
Although we’re unable to directly offer practical support ourselves, we are able to signpost older neighbours to our local and national partners to support them to access the right help, which may be access to food packages, prescription collections and more.
