Each month we have new and different activities for our neighbours to get stuck in with. The computer symbol means it's happening on zoom, the phone symbol means you can join in with just your landline or mobile phone for free, and both means it's open for everyone!
💻 Monday 1st March, 1:00pm-2:30pm: Movies, music and memories
We send you old video clips of times gone by in an email, and then we come together on zoom to discuss them! This is the perfect club for you to share old stories about the concerts you’ve been to, what your school days were like, where you used to work and more. We are also joined by neighbours from Manchester Cares for this club, so it’s a lovely way to chat to people of different ages and from different cities!
💻 Wednesday 3rd March, 6:30pm-7:35pm: Christine’s Quiz Night - World Book Day special
Volunteer Christine is taking on this month’s quiz night, and as it’s World Book Day tomorrow she’s chosen that as her theme! Don’t worry if you don’t read a lot, there will be something for everyone, and a little bird has told me Christine has a fantastic costume planned which will be worth joining in for alone!
💻 Thursday 4th March, 6:00pm-7:15pm: Carnival Dance Workshop with Movema
We have the fantastic dance company ‘Movema’ leading this session, which will be based around Carnival! Think Brazilian dance moves with some African influence - this workshop is suitable for all abilities. Dance as much or as little as you like, or just join us to listen to the music and watch everybody dancing along.
💻 Thursday 11th March, 6:00pm-7:30pm: Comedy Song Writing Workshop
'My Way', 'Let it Be' and 'Jolene' - all of the best songs have great stories as their inspiration. Well now you can be the inspiration for a song. Join professional comedienne and singer-songwriter Angie Waller in this fun story sharing workshop. Joining Angie will be multi-talented musician Claire Jones (Musical Director of Hope Street Harmonies). Angie and Claire will expertly weave your stories into an original song, which will be presented to you at a later date.
💻 Friday 12th March, 2:00pm-3:00pm: Virtual Visit to Chester Zoo
We’re very lucky to have Chester Zoo just up the road, but sadly at the minute the gates are closed to the public. So we’re even luckier still to have access to the zoo via zoom! We can decide together on the day which animals we would like to see, will we watch feeding time with the giraffes, learn about the Asian elephants or hang out with the orangutans?
💻 📞 Monday 15th March, 6:00pm-7:00pm: Desert Island Discs
Like the radio show of its namesake, come with a song in mind and the reason behind why you picked it. This month’s theme is “Spring”, we want songs about Spring, as it’s officially Spring this month! Share your song with the group and we will play it out loud for everyone to listen to. If you have a landline or mobile you can also join this for free!
💻 Thursday 18th March, 6:00pm-7:15pm: Ceilidh Dancing Workshop
Dance company ‘Movema’ are leading another session for us this month - you lucky lot! This one is a belated St Patrick’s Day celebration, you and your neighbours will be doing the Ceilidh together on zoom! This workshop is suitable for all abilities. Dance as much or as little as you like, or just join us to listen to the music and watch everybody dancing along.
💻 📞 Tuesday 23rd March, 6:00pm-7:00pm: Singalong
One of the most popular face-to-face social clubs we run was the singalong, where we all came together to sing well known songs at the top of our lungs. We’re going to try to recreate that on zoom! We have the wonderful Rachel from ‘Holistic harmonies’ leading this club, and she is going to try her best to get us all singing together in harmony - good luck Rachel! This club is for total beginners, you don’t need to be a singer or in a choir to join us! You can even call into this using a landline or mobile phone for free and sing along if you don’t have the internet.
💻 📞 Thursday 25th March, 6:30pm-7:30pm: The Cares Family Disco
Put on your party outfit and dancing shoes, and join your neighbours from across the UK at The Cares Family disco! Once a month, we join forces with our sibling charities in London and Manchester for a massive party and a good old boogie together! We provide the music, you just have to turn up and enjoy yourself. If you have a landline or a mobile phone you can call up and listen to the music for free and have a boogie on your phone!
💻 📞 Friday 26th March, 12:00pm-1:00pm: Diversity in Music Workshop with Chi Chi Nwanoku OBE
Ever wondered what life as a musician is like? Join your neighbours as we have an exclusive session with renowned classical musician and broadcaster Chi-chi Nwanoku. Receiving an OBE for her services to music, named in the top ten ‘Women in Music’ power list and given the Black British Business Awards Person of the Year, Chi-chi is a significant and exciting part of the classical music world. Hear all about her journey into music performance and the inspiring ‘Chineke! Foundation’ she has created, using her platform and success to pioneer a movement to address inequalities and champion diversity within the UK music scene. Chi-chi will be chatting to us, answering your questions and sharing her experiences and memories. Not to be missed! If you have a landline or mobile you can be included for free and listen in, and ask questions over the phone.
💻 📞 Monday 29th March, 6:00pm-7:00pm: Book Club
If you’re interested in being part of the Liverpool Cares Book Club, give Abbie a call and she will put your name into the lottery. We will send everyone who gets a space a copy of the same book, and come together regularly on zoom to discuss the story! If you don’t have zoom, don’t worry, this club can be easily accessed using your landline or a mobile.
If you haven't already, click here to head over to our website to sign up to volunteer, and we will get in touch with next steps. See you on zoom!
