Upcoming July Social Clubs

We’ll be hosting multiple 1-hour face-to-face Social Clubs at each venue, speak to Abbie to find out the exact timings of each slot and book your space!

👥 Monday 5th July, 1-hour slots between 5:30pm and 8:00pm: Creative Workshop with Travelled Companions - Mossley Hill

Local theatre company Travelled Companions will lead us through a discussion and writing-based creative workshop, where we will share our highs and lows, positives and negatives of the last 15 months over a cuppa and a slice of cake.

👥 Saturday 17th July, 1-hour slots between 1:00pm and 3:30pm: Saturday Meet-up - Penny Lane

Penny Lane is in my ears and in my eyes, and we’re meeting there again this month for a good catch up! We’ll be having a cuppa and a gab at this meet-up. There’s a lovely garden space to sit outside in the sunshine, so give us a call to let us know if you’d like a space on one of our slots, we’re looking forward to seeing you.

👥 Sunday 18th July, 1-hour slots between 12:30pm and 4:30pm: Mandela Day Celebration, Princes Park

Meet up with your neighbours in the park, and celebrate Mandela Day at the same time! Local group Mandela 8 are asking people to volunteer 67 minutes of their time to do acts of kindness in the name of Nelson Mandela, as he worked towards social justice for 67 years. That’s why we’re asking neighbours who come along to this meet-up to bring a couple of items to donate to a food bank if you can! We will donate them for you to the Upper Hill Development Trust Food Bank. If you don’t have an item please don’t worry, you’re still more than welcome to come along and meet up for a gab.

💻 📞 Thursday 8th July, 6:00pm - 7:30pm: Desert Island Discs

Like the radio show of its namesake, come with a song in mind and the reason behind why you picked it. This month’s theme as chosen by last month’s desert island discs neighbours is “Water/The Ocean”. We want songs about water or songs that remind you of the sea or ocean! Share your song with the group and we will play it out loud for everyone to listen to. Please have a think and let Abbie know what song you’d like so she can create the playlist ready to be DJ for the night! If you have a landline or mobile you can also join this for free - call us and ask us how if you’re interested.

💻 📞 Wednesday 14th July, 6:30pm - 7:30pm: Storytelling Club

Join your neighbours from around the UK for an exclusive Cares Family storytelling workshop! Learn why telling stories is important, and how to use your own story to inspire other people. Plus, be the first to hear about our exciting new project called Community Champions, and find out how you can get involved. Spaces are limited, so make sure you sign up!

📞 Tuesday 20th July, 2:00pm - 3:00pm: Cosy Call

Grab your phone and get comfy, we will pair you up with a neighbour or two to chat to! This is a great way to talk to new people, have a relaxed gab about anything you fancy, and pass some time. We will be there with prompts if you get stuck on things to talk about with your neighbour. If you’ve never joined a phone-in social club before, give Abbie a call and she will answer all of your questions.

💻 📞 Thursday 29th July, 6:30pm - 7:30pm: The Cares Family Disco

Join your neighbours from across the country for a Cares Family Disco! It’s Andy at North London Cares’ birthday month and he wants to celebrate his 40th with you. Bring your dancing shoes and a song request. Ain’t no party like a Cares Family party!

💻 Friday 30th July, 6:00pm - 8:30pm: Film Club - Pride Celebration

This weekend would have been Pride weekend in Liverpool, so get yourself cosy and we will watch “Pride” together over zoom! The film starring Bill Nighy and Imelda Staunton, is about an unlikely partnership between gay and lesbian activists and the striking miners in 1984 Wales, after realising they share common foes in Thatcher, the police and the conservative press.
