SEPTEMBER FACE-TO-FACE SOCIAL CLUBS

👥 Tuesday 7th September, 6:00pm - 7:00pm: Outdoor singalong with Holistic Harmonies, Princes Park, Devonshire Road, L8 3TZ

This is not a choir! If you can’t sing but love music, if you’re a keen singer and want to join in, or even if you don’t want to sing but just want to come along and listen - all abilities are welcome! Rachel from local singing group Holistic Harmonies will have you lot singing like angels in no time.

👥 Sunday 12th September, multiple 1 and a half hour slots between, 12:00pm - 3:30pm: Danny’s fun sports day, Sefton Park, L17 1AP

Younger neighbour Danny is going to be our referee, we will put you into teams, let’s play some classic sports day games in the park! Egg and spoon race, ring tossing and even a game of seated Boccia. If you’d rather not join in, but just want to be a spectator, you’re more than welcome to come along. There are prizes to be won, and loads of fun to be had.

👥 Monday 13th September, 6:30pm - 8:00pm: Gallery exhibition in a box, The Watering Can cafe, 64 Greenbank Road, L18 1HQ

The Open Eye Gallery have turned their recent photography exhibition into an activity pack for us to enjoy together! The exhibition, L - A City Through Its People, celebrates three local Liverpool archives, from the 1950s up to the present day. Come along to this social club in Greenbank Park and take a trip down memory lane, you’ll receive your own pack and join in with some creative exercises facilitated by the gallery.

👥 Saturday 18th September, 1 hour slots between, 1:00pm - 3:30pm: Quiz afternoon, Penny Lane Development Trust, 70 Penny Lane, L18 1BW

Get your thinking caps on, we’re going to have a quiz! There’ll be general knowledge, music and picture rounds, so bring yourself along and see how well you do. Winner gets a (rubbish) prize!

👥 Tuesday 28th September, 7:00pm - 10:00pm: Theatre trip, Everyman Theatre, 5-11 Hope Street, L1 9BH

Our Lady of Blundellsands is a hilariously twisted comic drama written by Jonathan Harvey, award-winning creator of Gimme Gimme Gimme. It’s about families and fantasies, honesty and lies – and about how heartbreaking great comedy can be. There are limited spaces at this social club, so please call Abbie to put your name in the lottery and she will let you know the week before if you’ve been chosen to come along.

SEPTEMBER VIRTUAL SOCIAL CLUBS

📞 Thursday 16th September, 6:00pm - 7:00pm: Cosy crossword club

Grab your phone and get comfy, we’re going to do a crossword together! This is a great way to talk to new people, have a relaxed gab about anything you fancy, and pass some time. Don’t worry if you’re rubbish at crosswords, this is a team effort. If you’ve never joined a phone-in social club before, give Abbie a call and she will answer all of your questions.

💻 Monday 27th September, 6:00pm - 7:00pm: Virtual trip around the world

Today is World Tourism Day, so let’s go on a virtual trip around the world! We’ll visit the Great Wall of China, Machu Picchu in Peru, The Taj Mahal and more, all from the comfort of our living rooms.

📞 💻 Wednesday 29th September, 1:00pm - 2:00pm: Desert island discs

Note this is in the afternoon, not the usual evening slot! Like the radio show of its namesake, come with a song in mind and the reason behind why you picked it. This month’s theme as chosen by last month’s desert island discs neighbours is ‘cover versions’. We want your favourite cover songs! Share your song with the group and we will play it out loud for everyone to listen to. Please have a think and let Abbie know what song you’d like so she can create the playlist ready to be DJ for the night! If you have a landline or mobile you can also join this for free - call us and ask us how if you’re interested.

💻 Wednesday 29th September, 6:00pm - 7:00pm: Ghost signs – the history of hand painted advertising with Sam Roberts and East London Cares

Have you ever noticed the faint remains of an advert painted on the side of a building? They're called ghost signs! Join East London Cares and ghost signs expert Sam Roberts, for a virtual tour of vintage advertising in East London, and the history behind it.

If you're over 65 and want to join in with any of these clubs, give Abbie a call on 0151 659 1789 and press option 2 to book a space. If you're a younger neighbour, you can sign up in the usual way using the link we sent to your email address. If you're not a part of Liverpool Cares yet and would like to join in, follow this link!
